Our Warren

Thanks be to God, Our Warren continues to thrive. In memory of Tristan, our beloved Ancient Dog who passed over the Rainbow Bridge in 2000 at the age of 18 years old, everybun and kitty celebrated their birthday on July 4th. Since every one of our furkids is a rescue, we don't know their actual birthdates, but when we adopted Tris, the shelter told us that he was born on July 4th - and so he shared his birthday with everyone. He was that kind of dog :)
Remember - Don't breed or buy while shelter pets die! Adopt - give a pet another chance at life!

Hunny celebrated his 13th birthday on the 4th of July, 2004!

Here are our two "special boys" - Hunny and Cokie. Special because of his age, Hunny is the oldest bunny in Our Warren; Cokie-the-Fat-Cat is special because of his size. "Dat's a wotta cat!"

To give you an idea...

... of the relative size of Cokie-the-Fat-Cat!

Losing Our Hunny on 5 January 2005 took part of me with him. We're planting a rose garden around where he' buried, but memory is not having. It is a finite thing. It is never on-going, but finite, a thing fixed, that goes no further. Hunny was Ring Bearer in our wedding; he was blessed by numerous priests and two bishops. He wrote letters to the ill and shut-in. His messages were always of hope: "Hab sum hay anna nap, an fings will wook bedder." I'm richer for having known him... and now there's a rabbit-shaped hole in my heart.

Phil's "baby" - his beloved 'vette.

The 'Vett. One lives in every guy's dreams, perhaps. Then they grow up and realise that they need a car that won't flood in a thunderstorm when the T-Tops are left at home, or that can handle snow, or that have room in them for more than two-and-ahalf people.

But this is Phil's first car, and even if it has to be sold to cope with the realities of everyday life, here's the picture of it, to prove that it was real, that he had it and yea, he was a 'Vett Guy, all tricked out in his Petty Officer's Uniform, wowing the crowds as he zoomed up and down wherever. Of course it drank gas like soda, and probably should have come with his name and address detailed on the back to make it easier for cops to send tickets to his house - but it's pretty amazing to be a 'Vett Guy.

Our Warren's Handsome Guy!

This is Codi, our grandpuppy. We miss her.

She was "given away" by her owner instead of loved.

No one should ever buy or adopt an animal without understanding that the commitment is for life - YOU life and the ANIMAL's life. CodiFox was an "impulse" buy, that "cute little doggie in the window". Her owner declined to take her to training courses. She didn't want books on how to train a dog or videos to watch that offered instruction on dog training. Codi grew up headstrong and overyly-dominant. When her owner couldn't have her in an apartment, she "gave her away" to someone - someone who oddly didn't want her pedigree papers, or her medical history, or her spay papers. Just "someone". It wasn't fair on Codi. She expecting to be loved for a lifetime. What she got was a year of learning to destroy her owner's possessions, a year of learning anti-social behaviour and a year of learning to bite when she didn't get her own way. Heaven knowns what she has now. When you buy or adopt, that is a promise for LIFE!
